Master Your Money and Finances: Plan

There are four key pillars used to improve your financial health: Spend, Save, Borrow and Plan. This week we're focusing on *Plan* to help you master your finances.

Perfect Planning
The future holds a lot of possibilities and unknowns. Smart financial planning, including insurance and savings, can help you and your family weather unexpected financial hardships, such as a huge medical bill, loss in the family, or auto accident ending in a lawsuit.

Insuring Your Future
There are very few things people buy that they hope to never use. Insurance is one of those items. But when disaster happens, the right insurance helps you and your family bounce back instead of falling deep into debt. Be sure you carry adequate liability coverage on your home and auto policies. You also want long-term disability coverage while you depend on your employment income. Equally, life insurance might be necessary if someone depends on you for their livelihood. Other insurance options that protect your future include renters' insurance, disability insurance, and medical coverage. Want to save on annual premiums? Try increasing your deductibles and always shop around for the best deals.

Take Financial Dancing Lessons
Life is going to throw you for a loop now and then. Walking away from those moments without going into debt takes money. To prepare for those emergencies, try creating a working budget, automatically deposit money into an emergency savings account every payday, watch your finances carefully with a personal financial management app, and employ no-cost financial advice and counseling.
