At One Nevada Credit Union, we're proud to give back to our communities in more ways than one. This spring, we hosted two community Shred Day events in Las Vegas and Reno, helping Nevadans safely dispose of personal documents while raising funds for local causes. These events not only support identity theft prevention but also strengthen the bond we share with our neighborsâand even our four-legged friends!
Las Vegas Shred Day: 6,900 Meals for Nevadans in Need
Our Las Vegas Shred Day took place at the Durango Branch and was a resounding success thanks to our generous and caring community. Together, we:
- Collected 507 lbs of food
- Raised $1,148 in donations
One Nevada matched and rounded up the amount for a total donation of $2,300 to Three Square Food Bank, Southern Nevada's largest hunger relief organization. That's enough to provide an estimated 6,900 meals for individuals and families in need. đ
Reno Shred Day: Helping Pets Through the SPCA of Northern Nevada
In Northern Nevada, we held our Shred Day at the Lemmon Valley Branch, where community members showed up in full force with documents to shred and hearts full of generosity. With Sunny 106.9 broadcasting live from the event, we raised $1,154 for the SPCA of Northern Nevada, a nonprofit dedicated to animal rescue and adoption. One Nevada matched and rounded up the total donation to $2,400 to support pets in need. đž
Community, Security, and GivingâAll in One Day
One Nevada's Shred Days offer more than free document shreddingâthey offer a way to:
- Prevent identity theft
- Support local nonprofits
- Strengthen community connections
Whether it's providing meals for families or helping animals find loving homes, our spring shred events show how a simple actâlike shredding old paperworkâcan make a real difference.
