Q: Can you tell us a little about ITNLasVEgasValley and when was it founded?
ITNLasVegasValley is a nonprofit organization that provides transportation for seniors and is an affiliate of ITNAmerica. I co-founded our organization with Fran Smith in 2009. We became affiliated with ITNAmerica and our first ride was delivered in March of 2010. To date we have delivered 15,000 rides.

Q: What was your career before founding ITN?
From 1984-1993, I was (First) Marketing/PR Director at the YMCA of Southern Nevada. From 1994-2008, I Served in marketing roles for several businesses and non-profits. The Las Vegas Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) named me 2001 Communicator of the Year.

Q: It seems that driving is such a huge sense of independence for many seniors, how can we encourage them to take advantage of your services?
Start the conversation earlier rather than later. Encourage them to join ITN Las Vegas Valley to try it out at first with nighttime driving or when they need to travel on certain highways. ITN can provide an alternative when driving becomes a bit more challenging for seniors.

Q: How can someone obtain transportation? Is there a membership that one needs to obtain?
Yes, we require seniors to complete a membership application. Once they become members, they may get rides 24/7, anywhere, for any purpose.

Q: How do most seniors find out about your services?
Through outreach events, partnerships, referrals and word of mouth.

Q: What areas do you serve?
We currently service the Southeast Las Vegas and Henderson areas, but it is our goal to serve all of Clark County within five years.

Q: What type of funding do you get and what type of Community support is there for your services?
We get funding through grants, donations, sponsorships, partnerships, and ride service agreements with organizations, businesses and health care providers.
Membership dues and modest ride fees also help with our funding.

Q: Are you involved in any other community outreach programs?
I now volunteer on committees for the Henderson Seniors' Auxiliary.
