Community Leadership Scholarship Program
Who is Eligible for the Scholarship?
The eligible candidate must be a graduating high school senior with an un-weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Have been accepted as a full-time student to a recognized accredited community college or university.
Meet the following criteria:
- must be a One Nevada Credit Union (ONCU) member; or
- be the son, daughter, or grandchild of a ONCU member or ONCU employee; or
- have a legal guardian who is either a ONCU member or ONCU employee.
Please Note: Member and/or employee must be in good standing with One Nevada Credit Union for a period of not less than 6 months.
Applications are judged on academic achievement, leadership, career goals, quality of answers to the leadership essay questions, and the scope of the student’s community activity.
A scholarship selection committee comprised of individuals from the Las Vegas community that are neither ONCU members nor employees of ONCU will judge applications. ONCU’s Sr. Vice President of Human Resources will approve the members serving on the scholarship selection committee.
Financial Need Criteria
In addition to the eligibility requirements listed in the Selection Criteria Section, one (1) $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually based on the ability of the applicant to demonstrate a financial need.
The eligible candidate must demonstrate a financial need determined by a family whose annual income falls within the following guidelines:

Distribution of Awards
Awards are paid in one lump sum to the student upon verification of actual enrollment and will be issued in the form of a cashier’s check.
All applications, essays, and references become the property of ONCU upon submission. ONCU reserves the right to use the recipient’s name, photo, essay or part of any essay, application, or attachments to applications in promotional materials and official publications.
ONCU reserves the right to rescind and/or reissue any scholarship should the winning recipient not meet admission requirements or otherwise not attend or become admitted to the post secondary school as stated on their original application.
Any falsification of application or attachment to the application will cause the candidate to become ineligible for scholarship consideration.
ONCU reserves the right to discontinue this program at any time or not issue a scholarship should all applicants not meet qualifications set by the selection committee.
